If you are interested in a consultation as a prospective client of Dr. Ackerman, please contact us using the secure form below.

  • Prior to your first visit, you will be sent a link to Onpatient to fill out consent forms and basic past and present medical information.

Initial visits are consultative in nature and consultation is made over several visits. This consists of a collection of comprehensive health information to help assess the nature of the problem and recommendations for further testing or treatment. A treatment plan may include; providing psychotherapy, suggesting behavioral modifications, recommending medical interventions including lab work, prescribing medication and other services or resources as indicated. Prescriptions may or may not be provided during the consultation period. Please expect that controlled substances including benzodiazepines and stimulants may not be prescribed at the first visit. In some circumstances, Dr. Ackerman may recommend a different treatment provider and/or treatment setting as a better fit to meet your needs. After Dr. Ackerman and you have mutually agreed to work together, you'll become an active patient.

  • Medication management appointments are monthly or every two to three months but may be more frequent while starting or changing medications. Psychotherapy sessions are weekly to every other week.

Controlled substance prescriptions such as benzodiazepines, stimulants or Suboxone require in-office assessments for a maximum of a month supply.
